MYLINE Carrier
Selection Service is being introduced with the objectives of improving
customer convenience while at the same time ensuring fair competitive
conditions in the telecommunications area. With MYLINE, subscribers
register at an exchange operated by NTT East or NTT West. After
registering, they no longer will need to dial the access code
of whatever carrier they use when they make calls. This will enhance
customer convenience. At the same time, the other players in the
telecommunications area will move to the same footing as NTT East,
NTT West, and NTT Communications, which always have been accessible
without first dialing an access code prefix. This will enhance
the fairness of dialing procedures among all competitors in the
telecommunications area. In addition, the presence of MYLINE service
will ensure conformance with the telecommunications systems prevailing
abroad, as similar systems have been introduced in foreign countries.
With the introduction
of MYLINE, all competitors in Japan's telecommunications area
will be equal in terms of dialing methods and the number of digits
in dialing prefixes. Fair competition among the players will invigorate
the telecommunications market, setting the stage for even better
services in the future.
