CALL FOR EARLY SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENT
OF THE NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS AS OF END FEBRUARY

Those Parties Who Want to Use MYLINE from the Beginning of Service Should
Complete Registration Procedures by the End of March

MYLINE Carriers Association

MYLINE Carrier Selection Service commenced accepting applications from January 10th, in preparation for the beginning of services at 2 AM on May 1st. A large number of applications has already been received, indicating the great interest customers have in MYLINE services.

Many more applications are expected in the future. In addition, some time is required to complete the application procedures. As a result, those customers who wish to use MYLINE from the beginning of service provision on May 1st are requested to submit their applications as soon as possible in accordance with the guidelines below.

The number of lines registered as of the end of February is listed on the attachment.

Call for Early Submission of Applications

MYLINE Carriers Association has previously announced that those customers whose applications arrive at the MYLINE Center or the telephone companies by the end of March will be able to use MYLINE from the date of the launch of service on May 1st. In addition, the registration processing system has some degree of flexibility. However, a large number of applications are being received at present, and there is a possibility that the processing of certain registrations will not be completed in time. In some cases, the start of services for those applications that have not yet arrived by the end of March may be delayed until after May 1st. Those customers who wish to start using MYLINE when service begins on May 1st are therefore requested to submit their applications as soon as possible during March.

MYLINE services for some applications that have arrived by the end of March may not start until after May 1st, depending on the number of applications that arrive. In such cases, customers will be contacted by the MYLINE Center. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.

No. of Customers (Registrations)

Since the beginning of acceptance of applications on January 10th, 2001, approximately 5 million lines had been registered for MYLINE services as of the end of February. Refer to the attachment for specific figures for the number of lines registered.

The next announcement of figures on MYLINE registrations as of the end of April will be published on the MYLINE Carriers Association Home Page (www.tca.or.jp/myline). Subsequent announcements of end-of-month figures will also be published on the Home Page. They will appear around the middle of the month of the succeeding month.

* As the result of discussions by the MYLINE Carriers Association, the figures in the tables on the attachment have been summarized into registration figures for two groups, one consisting of NTT East, NTT West, and NTT Communications, and one consisting of the other (non-NTT) telephone companies. In addition, the figures stated are for registrations completed as of the end of February. The figures do not cover cases in which the application has been received but the registration is still being processed.
