REQUEST TO CUSTOMERS WHOSE REGISTRATION HAS BEEN DELAYED and
DATA ON REGISTRATIONS
Please Dial the Access Code Until Your MYLINE Service Starts

MYLINE Carriers Association

MYLINE Carrier Selection Service began service as scheduled on Tuesday, May 1st.

As has been announced, our processing of the registration of customers' telephone company selections is being delayed because of the large volume of applications concentrated at the end of March. We deeply regret the inconvenience that the delays are causing to customers and are working hard to enable customers to begin using MYLINE services as soon as possible.

In addition, figures for the number of registrations completed as of the end of April are announced below.

Request to Customers in Connection with the Delay in Processing Registrations

Because of the large number of MYLINE applications received by the end of March, we were unable to complete the processing of about 8 million applications by the beginning of service provision on May 1st. Those customers have been contacted individually by the MYLINE Center and also notified by newspaper advertisements concerning the delay. The registration of their telephone company selections is scheduled to be completed during May. In the meantime, those customers are requested to first dial the telephone company's access code when they want to use the telephone company/companies they selected in their application. This dialing procedure is only temporary until their MYLINE services begin.

  • If you are making a domestic call, the dialing order is:
00XY (the access code of the telephone company you want to use) + area code + city prefix
+ subscriber number (the last four digits)

  • If you are making an international call, the dialing order is:
00XY (the access code of the telephone company you want to use) + 010 + country code
+ domestic telephone number (this usually consists of area code + telephone number)

    * You will be able to use the current dialing order (telephone company's access code + country code + domestic telephone number of the party you are calling) until the end of April 2003

    * Customers whose MYLINE registration processing procedures have been completed will be notified by post card at a later date (the pamphlet "Guide to MYLINE Registration").

When users who have not applied for MYLINE registration and customers whose registration has not yet been completed dial without prefixing the telephone company's access code, their local calls and in-prefecture long-distance calls (long-distance calls within the same prefecture) will be carried via NTT East or NTT West, and their out-of-prefecture long-distance calls (long-distance calls to different prefectures) will be carried via NTT Communications.

No. of Registrations

Please refer to the attachment for data on the status of MYLINE registrations as of the end of April.

Subsequent announcements of end-of-month figures will be published on the MYLINE Carriers Association Home Page (www.tca.or.jp/myline). They will appear around mid-month of the following month (i.e., 2-3 weeks after the end of the month).

Figures in the Attached Tables

  1. The figures cover only those applications received at the MYLINE Center for which registration processing has been completed. The figures do not cover applications received but still in the process of being registered.

  2. The result of deliberations by the MYLINE Carriers Association is stated below:

    a. The numbers have been summarized into registration figures for two groups, one consisting of NTT East, NTT West, and NTT Communications, and one consisting of the other (non-NTT) telephone companies.
    b. In addition, registration figures for NTT Communications' local call and in-prefecture long-distance call (long-distance calls within the same prefecture) categories include other telephone companies that are new entrants in the categories.

  3. The number of lines registered is not exactly the same as the number of applications received because some customers may make multiple applications and some applications are on separate forms according to the calling category.
