Progress of Registration Processing by MYLINE Carrier Selection Service

MYLINE Carriers Association

MYLINE Carrier Selection Service began service as scheduled on Tuesday, May 1st. However, the processing of the registration of the telephone companies selected by customers was delayed, as previously announced, because the volume of applications was much higher than expectations. MYLINE Carriers Association has been working hard to deal with this situation so as to enable customers to use MYLINE services as soon as possible. System processing capacity has been raised and the work time spent on processing has been extended so that capacity has been raised to handle a maximum of 350,000 registrations per day. We are pleased to report that as a result, the processing of registrations at present (early September) is proceeding at a normal pace (approximately two weeks from reception of application to completion of registration).

We would again like to express our deep regrets for the inconvenient delays that some customers have experienced till now.

MYLINE applications (including new registration and changes) received through October 31st by the MYLINE Center or the telephone companies will be free of charge. However, the time needed to process applications is expected to lengthen by several weeks if we receive a large number of applications in October, the last month in which registration and changes will be free. We sincerely request your understanding for any inconvenience if such cases take place.

If you still have not applied, we again urge you to send in your application as soon as possible to avoid the rush.

Please note that a fee of ¥800 (not including tax) will be charged on all applications received beginning November 1st of this year.

Data on the number of lines registered with MYLINE as of the end of August will be published on the MYLINE web site* on Saturday, September 15th at 3PM. (The data are updated every month around the fifteenth.)
* Data are available at the following page within the MYLINE web site:

Request to Customers Whose Registration Processing Has Not Yet Been Completed

If you have applied but have not yet received a notice stating that MYLINE registration has been completed, please first dial the telephone company's access code when you want to use the telephone company/companies you selected in your application. This dialing procedure will be only temporary until your MYLINE services begin.

  • If you are making a domestic call, the dialing order is:
00XY (the access code of the telephone company you want to use) + area code + city prefix
+ subscriber number (the last four digits)

  • If you are making an international call, the dialing order is:
00XY (the access code of the telephone company you want to use) + 010 + country code
+ domestic telephone number (this usually consists of area code + telephone number)

    * Customers whose MYLINE registration processing procedures have been completed will be notified by post card at a later date (the pamphlet "Guide to MYLINE Registration").

When users who have not applied for MYLINE registration and customers whose registration has not yet been completed dial without prefixing the telephone company's access code, their local calls and in-prefecture long-distance calls (long-distance calls within the same prefecture) are carried via NTT East or NTT West, and their out-of-prefecture long-distance calls (long-distance calls to different prefectures) are carried via NTT Communications.

  1. If you use ACR, you are connected to the telephone company as usual.

  2. If you do not use ACR, your local calls and in-prefecture long-distance are carried via NTT East or NTT West, and your out-of-prefecture long-distance calls are carried via NTT Communications.

Important Point about MYLINE Registration

If your registration with MYLINE Carrier Selection Service or MYLINE PLUS Carrier Designation Service switches the company you use for telephoning, the start of your MYLINE services may result in usage changes. Specifically, you may be unable to use the discount service you were using before you changed telephone companies, or you may not be able to use your credit card to pay for the discount service. For this reason, you should be careful about discount services that charge a monthly flat rate.
